TundraGuard

TundraGuard is a special purpose lightweight oil spill containment boom for use in shallow calm water environments where the water level may fluctuate and cause conventional booms to leak or fail due to grounding.

The upper chamber is filled with foam buoyancy that provides freeboard when the water depth increases and allows the boom to function like conventional curtain booms in deeper water.

The ballast consist of a single water chamber, this water ballasted skirt causes the boom to rest on the terrain in shallow water and creates a seal to contain oil.

The Tundra Guard is suited to swamps, marshes, inland or boggy terrain.

Larger versions of this concept are available (ShoreMax) with a twin water tube that provides more stability in conditions where there may be more water energy, ie tidal estuaries, beaches and coastlines.
